From the Pastor

It is the prayer of the members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and her pastor that through the Word of God proclaimed here in her various services more and more people would come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ and by Him be saved eternally.  God reveals this as His goal over again in the Scriptures. Ezekiel 18:23-“Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?”  1 Timothy 2:4-“God our Savior desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”  Romans 10:17-“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”  Acts 2:38, 39-“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Himself.”  John 6:51-“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

We at Shepherd of the Hills acknowledge that we are sinners and have in no way deserved the mercy of God.  And yet God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, has been exceedingly merciful to us and has forgiven us and given us eternal salvation for Christ’s sake.

That same gift is for all people.  All have sinned and yet Jesus Christ has earned forgiveness for all.  The only matter now is to receive that forgiveness and salvation in faith through the means God has given.  Through Baptism, the preaching of the Word and the reception of the Lord’s body and blood in His Supper faith is given and salvation is received.  We invite you to join us in God’s mercy.

In Christ,

Pastor David McMinn
